An Austrian family-owned company, Egger is one of the leading brands for wood solutions in Europe. Since 1961, it has been making more from wood, from sawn timber and wood-based materials to decorative surfaces, having 10,100 employees at 20 locations worldwide. The European plant in Wismar, which mainly produces laminate flooring and OSB product lines, went into operation in 1999, and supplies the entire European market.

The location has proven to be ideal for raw material procurement and export to Asia and Australia. Products go from the Egger plant at Haffeld to more than 90 countries thanks to the excellent infrastructure. The location near the harbor also favors the use of residual wood, dust and wood waste within value-added chains, including energy generation. Environmental protection concept is reflected in site’s FSC® and PEFC certification. In 2017, a second plant at the Wismar site was ceremonially opened. With an investment of €20 million, new standards were able to be set in laminate and design flooring production. A newly built logistics and storage hall also allows the handling of all upstream and downstream manufacturing processes on 32,000 sq feet (3,000 m²). The commissioning of Plant II allowed the establishment and development of a research and development department to further expand the company’s market position and strengthen the Wismar location.
