Skilled Human Capital
The Strength of MV
The state network of universities and research institutions together with in-company training have brought about a high level of workforce potential in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The state has a high proportion of MINT courses (mathematics, information technology, natural sciences, technology), where the engineers and scientists of tomorrow are trained. This is an important element in the future high-value skill base of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Many companies decide to invest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern because of the availability of skilled workers. Five state colleges and universities in Rostock, Greifswald, Neubrandenburg, Stralsund and Wismar also offer a wide range of opportunities for research cooperation. In their research centers they develop innovative solutions that contribute to the success of local manufacturing companies.
There are also approximately 24,000 apprentices in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Companies can also tap into the 77,000 commuters who still travel from MV to work in neighboring states but would prefer a job close to home.
